History of Concordia Lodge No. 67

Constituted September 12, 1795 — a deep connection to Pennsylvania Masonic history.

Concordia Lodge No. 67 was constituted on September 12, 1795 at the Free Quaker Meeting House in Philadelphia. It was at first intended that Concordia be a German-speaking Lodge, but unable to obtain authority to conduct its deliberations in German, it became an English-speaking Lodge. In 1810, ten members of Concordia successfully petitioned to form Hermanns Lodge No. 125, Pennsylvania's German-language Lodge.

Concordia Lodge has a deep connection to Pennsylvania Masonic history. When the Grand Lodge changed its place of meeting to Independence Hall at the beginning of the nineteenth century, Concordia Lodge also met there. The Lodge continued meeting in the same building as the Grand Lodge for more than 1¾ centuries.

In 1974, the members decided that a suburban meeting place would be more convenient for most of the Lodge. At that time, Concordia moved to the Jenkintown Masonic Temple at 443 Old York Road, where the Lodge continues to meet today.

In 1995, the Lodge celebrated its bicentennial with a year-long 200th anniversary celebration, including a Special Meeting on September 12 at the site of its Constitution, the Free Quaker Meeting House in Philadelphia, and a $25,000 gift from the Lodge Trustees to Grand Lodge charitable works.

Beyond traditional Masonic work, Concordia Lodge has historically supported fellowship and family-focused activities, including banquets, theater parties, dances, holiday parties, sightseeing trips, historical tours, and other recreational events. The Lodge is also listed as a sponsor of Friendship-Bray Order of DeMolay and Martha B. Mathers Assembly of the Rainbow Girls.
